'TransferJet' high-speed, wireless transfer technology'
'TransferJet' is the close proximity, high-speed, simple connectivity, wireless transfer technology' standard researched, designed, developed and demonstrated by Sony during early 2008. The touch activated interface and the wireless TransferJet technology aimed to facilitate high speed data exchange between two electronic devices (peer to peer mode). The amazing physical transmission rate of this device is 560 Mbit/s. However the maximum throughput is rated as 375 Mbit/s after allowing for error correction and other protocol overhead.
Toshiba America Electronic components, Inc. and TransferJet Consortium
The technology is further promoted by the TransferJet Consortium whose membership consists of 45 companies (as of August 2012), including Toshiba. Toshiba America Electronic components, Inc. offer a single chip solution that utilizes an RF-CMOS manufacturing process to support both RF and digital functions in one chip. Since the ultra small module single chip TransferJet embedded design (comprising built-in crystal and RF components in a 4.8x4.8x1.0 mm package) reduces power consumption, it is oriented towards small form factor consumer electronic devices.

The form factor TransferJet technology components announced by Toshiba includes:
1. USB adaptor (TJM35420UX); 2. MicroUSB adaptor (TJM35420MU ); 3. MicroSDIO card (TC35420US); and 4. TransferJet-enabled SDHC memory card.
These components aim to promote quick adoption of the TransferJet technology by OEMs and for end-user implementation (smart phones and hand-held micro-computing devices). For example: 1. The USB adaptor is compatible to Windows 7 and Windows 8 Operating Systems with Toshiba software; 2. The microUSB adaptor can be adopted in the Android™ 4.0 OS and above devices (equipped with a microUSB port and USB OTG (On The Go) function as well as Android application software; 3. The microSDIO card (adoptable to) runs on Android 4.0 OS with (Toshiba) Linux drivers for OEMs to port it to their Application processors.
Toshiba TransferJet technology and Digital Electronic Devices' Consumers
Toshiba TransferJet technology is all set to become the next big thing in the close proximity wireless data transmission arena. The devies can transfer very large files, such as 1. from a portable device to a portable device (smartphone or a tablet) or 2. a portable device to a stationary device (TV or printer) with a simple connection in the shortest possible time. No file type limitation and all in mission critical data including aerospace, defense, medical application information - ebook, reports, drawing, photos, output from medical instruments, and videos, in very large file formats are compatible for secure and very high-speed data transfer.
The wireless speeds of TransferJet is about 8 faster than Wi-Fi Direct; the speed is amazing and transfer of 100 MB data file from mobile phone to television is possible in less than 2.0 seconds. Yet the TransferJet technology devices will consume lesser power than Blue tooth devices. Each of these devices may cost around $ 38.00 to 40.00 and can be applicable to mobiles or tablets with Android 4.0 or higher and Windows 7/8.
